CLL was invited to conduct activities for the USAID grant project at Grigol Robakidze University.
In 2023, Grigol Robakidze University was awarded a USAID Rule of Law Program education grant aimed at enhancing the qualifications of Legal English lecturers at six regional universities.
The project’s objectives included deepening lecturers’ understanding of key legal topics, helping them select relevant lecture themes, and improving their proficiency in Legal English—particularly their command of legal terminology—to facilitate the effective communication of complex legal concepts to students. The project also aimed to promote a stronger understanding of modern and effective teaching methodologies among lecturers. At the conclusion of the project, the syllabi for Legal English courses at all participating universities were updated.
Training and coaching were provided by the Head of CLL, Khatia Tandilashvili. The project ran until July 2024. Throughout its duration, lecturers had the opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of legal issues and effective Legal English teaching methodologies through carefully planned activities.
By having highly qualified lecturers, regional law students will become more competitive in both the domestic and international job markets. Additionally, they will be able to produce high-quality scientific papers using English-language legal resources and engage in English-language academic activities.
