Training in Zugdidi

As a part of a USAID Rule of Law Program education grant, and at the invitation of Grigol Robakidze University, from February 12-17, 2024, the head of the Center for Legal Language delivered the training for the representatives of six regional universities at Shota Meskhia State Teaching University of Zugdidi.

The goal of the training was to improve the quality of legal English taught at regional universities by updating respective syllabuses and improving teaching methodologies.

The trainer updated the participants’ knowledge in issues such as business law, company law, commercial law, banking law, employment law, real property law, intellectual property law, litigation, and alternative dispute resolution.

The Batumi branch of Grigol Robakidze University, Shota Meskhia State Teaching University in Zugdidi, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Samtskhe-Javakheti State University, Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University, and Akaki Tsereteli State University in Kutaisi all sent lecturers to the training.

Reflecting on her experience, Indira Machutadze from the Grigol Robakidze University Batumi Branch said, “The legal English training course provided me with fundamental knowledge on legal issues and effective teaching techniques. The training equipped me with the readiness to conduct efficient lessons with interactive activities and engaging games, boosting confidence and fluency in using English in a legal context.”

Nugzar Tevdoradze from Samtskhe-Javakheti State University expressed his appreciation for the warm and conducive environment during the training. He highlighted the effectiveness of the teaching structure and methodology. Tevdoradze also found the integration of artificial intelligence and the emphasis on authentic materials and syllabus construction particularly valuable.
